My name is Carla. I have been battling with my weight as far back as I can remember. In the 29 years I have been alive, I have gone through dozens of different diets and yoyo-ed my weight. I have always been fond of going to the gym though. My mom first signed me up to a fitness facility when I was 16 years old. That was in Slimmer's World. I was a member for about a year, but stopped going after about 6 months. I did my own exercise outdoors because I got bored. In 2006, I had the biggest drop in my weight ever. I was also at my heaviest weighing 175lbs. I started with a strict diet and intense workout in January 2006. By May 2006, I weighed 128lbs. I lost 47lbs in 5 months! It wasn't the healthy way too because I was eating no carbs, everything for me was "fattening", and was eating less and less. Sometimes I would eat just 2 meals a day and would workout twice a day! So I gained back 42lbs in less than a year. It took me years to finally start a healthier lifestyle. My boyfriend and I signed up in Fitness First Trinoma and decided to be workout buddies. We have been members since 2008, and have been going to the gym regularly. But, I was not eating right. I would binge on chips and ice cream. Eat fried chicken from a convenience store if there was no time to cook. My work also played a very big role in why I couldn't eat right, my work is on-the-go and is very fast paced that everything had to be ordered out and fast. I was doing this for months until I started to palpitate. Frequent headaches and neck pains, I didn't have the energy to go out even though I was working out every morning, 5 days a week.
Until finally, I made an appointment with a cardiologist and that's when I found out I was bordering on hyper-tension, and have a high risk of getting diabetes early. This disease runs in my family. So, I finally took over my life and battle this weight problem and unhealthy living!
My goal is to lose at least 20 lbs. before my 30th birthday, that is in 5 months! A little bit unrealistic if I want to lose weight honestly, but at least I have motivation. I would want you to be a part of this. Battling with weight and health problems is the biggest problem there is now in society. I hope that my blog inspires and motivates you to begin a healthy lifestyle as well!
I am also a culinary graduate from the Hotel School of DLS-CSB in 2002. Join me as I cook up some healthy dishes, and share these recipes with you. Most of the recipes you'll read about here are my original recipes, but some are from a cookbook called "Reversing Diabetes" by Julian Whitaker, MD (I will indicate the recipes that are from this book). Let's all live a healthier and a leaner lifestyle together!
